Dr Lydia Hopkins is an experienced clinician and a registered specialist in Periodontics with the GDC for over 24 years. She qualified from the famous London Hospital Medical College in 1990, then worked in both general practice and the Department of Maxillofacial Surgery, Ashford Hospital. She was awarded a Dentsply Scholarship before specialisation.

Her specialist training (MSc) was at the prestigious Eastman’s Dental Institute (1995), and she entered the specialist register in 1997. She went on to hold numerous positions as lead Trust Specialist in periodontics including Brent Teaching Primary Care Trust; Riverside NHS Trust, Harrow and Hillington Healthcare NHS Trust, Hammersmith and Fulham Primary Care Trust and Parkside NHS Trust, Soho square, as well as taking Periodontal referrals in numerous private practices around the London area.

Lydia also worked as a part time Clinical Lecturer in Periodontology for 5 years (Bart’s and the London, Queen Mary’s School of Medicine and Dentistry), where she taught trainee periodontal Specialists, undergraduate dental students and trainee hygienists. She also produced innovative research and published numerous papers1. As a regional educational representative for the British Society of Periodontology (10 years) Lydia provided lectures/courses for dentists and promoted dental research as a member of The London Dental Research Engagement Strategy Group for Primary Care (“LonDRES”). She also designed a periodontal model for surgical training/patient education.

Lydia achieved a Certificate in Learning and Teaching and Associate membership of the Higher Education Academy. As a respected and experienced clinician in the Periodontal community she was an invited examiner (Eastman’s Dental Institute, IQE, GDC) and key scientific advisor for industry.

Lydia now works closely with Professor Bhat in the interdisciplinary Moor Park practice who are taking referrals. The team offer the advanced treatment of Periodontal disease and Peri-implantitis and give related education to referral practices.

She is an expert in providing Waterlase Laser Treatment to treat periodontal conditions and a broad range of both non-surgical and surgical regenerative and non-regenerative techniques, utilising allografts, xenografts and resorbable barrier membranes. Diagnosis and treatment planning is provided for the referring practitioners and patients are accepted for treatment.

Dr Hopkins is passionate about improving the health and wellbeing of her patients and hopes to be of assistance to you in the near future.
